Finally after hours and hours of removing the header and reinstalling and rerunning everything it was time to put the car to its first real test, and it was amazing!!! It will be raining for about 2 weeks so it will be a perfect opportunity to get that fender repainted due to an accident with a piece of wood.

The Hedman Headers were a bit to close to the spark plug boots so the header had to be removed and dented in the area of the spark plugs. Since it was already removed it was best to go ahead and wrap the header in heart wrap fiberglass. Its back on now and shouldn't cause any more problems and would keep the engine bay a bit cooler.

Ever since the car was painted, there was some dirt and dust inside the upper and lower scoops, and some scratches that were made during the prep work. It was an eye sore and it was time to clean them up inside and spray a few coats of semi gloss. Both upper and lower scoops were made functional. Uppers get fresh air into the cab when the vent is opened from the inside, and the lower scoop cools the rear brakes at all times. It took a lot more time to accomplish this, but it was well worth the work. Nothing like seeing side scoops and actually knowing that they are not always there to look good!

The engine was started for the first time, there were some issues with bad wire connection, and was giving coil a weak spark. After that was resolved it fired right up. Few more checks will be made, see if any leaks develope, power brakes, power steering, then it will be ready for a test drive in a few days.

Side exhaust was finished, adjusted and secured to the sub-frame to avoid bounce around while driving or hitting a bump, bellow are a few shots of the full exhaust, mufflers and side pipes with tips are from Mustangs To Fear. Perfect set up, clears sub-frame no problems and no issues with clearing the traction bars.

Engine bay wiring was finished up and everything cleaned up. Interior was assembled back together and the bad connection in the steering column was repaired, due to that connection brakes were not working and turn signals, now everything was tested and turn signals function, brake lights function, lights function, emergency lights function.

Radiator fans were connected to a relay located by the MSD box, and a weatherproof fuse box with a 30A fuse was installed for the MSD Ignition system and that fuse is hidden behind the batttery.

Had to take a few steps back on the project, after everything was connect, it was time to test things, turn signals didnt work, brake lights didnt work, but the lights worked and emergency flashers worked. After taking some time away from the project i was able to get back on it. Some engine compartment wires had to be wired up to a relay and fuses. wires behind the dash were checked and we were able to find out that there was a bad connected on the steering column connector, which effected the brake lights and the turn signals, now that everything is squared away, a new LED flasher will be installed behind the dash, for the LED taillights to work like they should, and then LED lights to be wired up permanently and all of the wires cleaned up and tucked in.

Had a busy schedule with my other job this past week, wasnt able to do much but radiator fans and MSD wiring has pretty much been finished, fuel tank pump still needs to be wired up and waiting on a new LED panel, because one was deffective and i had to ship it back for a new one.

MSD ignition box has been installed and wired up with the coil and the distributor. MSD box comes with a few rev limiters, for now i put in a 3,000 rev limiter. Electric choke on the 750cfm carb has also been wired up. Electric fans need to be wired up next.

Alignment was done today, Eventually it would need to be put on a machine to get the perfect degrees and perfect toe and camber, but for now it has been adjusted to the best specs possible without the machines, and could be safely driven without any issues. Once the car drives a bit, suspension will settle in a bit, and after some 50-100 miles everything would need to be checked and adjusted again and tightened.

Pulley belts were finally installed, after buying set after set to finally find the ones that would fit the pulley set up the best. Starter was also installed and connected. Starter is a 11:1 compression approved, the engine has about 10.5:1 so it turns the engine without a problem. Carburator throttle linkage was hooked up to the pedal and the throttle return springs installed. Fuel was connected to the carburator and Altenator was alco set up and connected.

I tried to take pictures from the same angle, it turned out alright, i tried not to make it to long, but enough to see the full process. i will have another video uploading with full restoration pictures, and try to fit it all in to a 5-6 min video, will then upload an HD quality video of the whole car, engine running, car driving etc...

The exhaust turned out great, it clears everything and very solid and doesnt bounce around or rock from side to side. I have used these guys before and they let me help them and we get things done. It took a few hours and full exhaust with ceramic headers headers, X pipe, mufflers, tip and all pipes 2.5" with labor ended up costing roughly $1,600, its worth it, but sure is pricy stuff to do.

Headers have been installed, the driver side was a pretty tight fit, had some block and head clearance issues, those areas needed to be dented in to clear those areas, and also the top curved pipe was hitting the valve cover because of the valve cover size, that pipe had to be dented in as well to seat the headers flat. Spark plug on cylinder #8 was a pain to install and a steering shaft had to be removed and that spark plug had to be installed from under the car. Im sure its a combination of valve cover, 95 block, aftermarket heads. The headers are Ceramic coated by Hedman.

March Alternator bracket was installed and march pulleys. 140amp alternator installed, belts were measured after all the pulleys were installed and hopefully ill get them in couple days to install, 750cfm carburator was installed along with the MSD distributor and MSD coil. MSD ignition will be wired up in a few days. High torque starter is on order and i should hopefully see it in 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile, ill be able to tow the car to exhaust shop and install the full side exhaust after i put the ceramic coated headers on and adjust the front TCP suspension because its sitting a little to low plus toe, camber and caster needs to be adjusted while im at it.

Fuel pipe was delivered today and connected to the fuel nect and to the fuel tank, Hurst shifter was also installed with the go baby go button, The go baby go button is not functional since im not running NOS in this car, and the safety NOS switch is also not functioning, however, it can be wired to something else to function, lights or any other accessories.

Headlights were installed (headlight ring later) Racing PIAA lights installed, PIAA running lights, and PIAA fog lights installed. Top and bottom grill was installed. Then front wheels were installed, and now rear and front of the car is fully compressed with its weight, after a few days well see if the springs will sag, and what adjustments will be needed.

As of now the front wheels need to go in 1/2" -1" good thing with the TCP front suspension its fully adjustable in any way, narrower or wider wheel base, caster, camber, toe. So after the suspension sit for a few days, i might sag a little, and ill know if ill need to raise the front or just adjust in more and toe and such.

Randals power steering pump has been isntalled and has been connected to the Randals rack and pinion, Once the pulleys are installed, then the radiator will be installed and few more hoses and wires and it will be ready to fire up.

Since all of the drive-train has been finished, and all the brakes finished, rear wheels were installed for good. The front suspension will need to be tuned a bit, before the front wheels are on permanently as well. Since the rear end is sitting on jack-stands, with wheels on, this is exactly how it will be on the ground, so there is no lowering or lifting needed, and will not have any clearance issues.

PIAA lights are getting installed now, starting with the fog lights, running lights, headlights, and racing lights will be installed later at the bottom middle, once the nose is secured and all of the lights are secured and grill installed. The light bar under the bumper holds the front nose in place, along with the racing middle bottom lights together.

Brakes were bled and checked with any leaks, everything looked good. TKO600 was installed, along with the driveshaft and clutch cable installed and adjusted.

All of the brake lines were finally finished up, No fluid yet, will bleed the brakes the following day and hope no leaks develop. The rear end was ordered as special order, it was custom made, and beefed up much more than a regular 9" rear end, and also for being custom, it was not made specifically for my vehicle as far as the breather hole goes and the little brake line brackets, So the splitter block that bolts up to the axle had to be put in a different location, and the brake lines on the rear had to be fabricated to reach everything and clear things here and there. Here are some pictures of the result. The belly is pretty dusty from after the shop was done with the body work, All will be cleaned up before lowering the vehicle.

Rear valance back up lights were installed, valance installed, rear taillight panel installed and rear bumper. For now its temporary because the LED taillights need to be secured to the rear panel, but at least they are not laying around waiting to get scratched. The trunk latch is not installed yet, the drive side is about 1/4" higher, but once it latches it evens out perfectly.

There were some issues with TKO tranny install. Some other parts had to be ordered from modern driveline in order to finish the tko install, driveshaft and to complete the drivetrain. The timing was almost perfect because work have been pretty busy for the last couple week and not much time was devoted towards the Eleanor.

Brakes and fuel lines are being finished up, rear end of custom 9" and a much stronger design then a regular 9" and the brake lines have to be slightly modified around the rear end.

Flywheel, Clutch and Pressure plate has been installed, will be followed by a TKO600 shortly.

Hood, was painted underneath and picked up from the shop, and rear valance, rear bumper and taillight panel were finished, color sanded and buffed.

Since i havent done any work to the car yet, ill leave it at day 61 for now. The car is still at the paint shop. I stopped by there today and got an update, The final body work is to be done by 7-23-10 and painted by 7-28-10. I was hoping to have this car finished by the end of July, but from the looks of it, its not going to happen. Mid August is more realistic from my end. Ill go see the car in a week to get another update and maybe get a few pictures.

427W long block was finished and ready to be installed into the car, once the car is back from paint.

Block was, hot tanked, maged, bored and hone moly, surfaced, all internals were balanced, rings were file fitted, piston and rods aligned, cam was degreed, head and block assembled, everything was mocked for clearance, timing gear drive set up and adjust, rolled cam lifters and roller rockers were gaped and set up.

All receipts are available for all of the block work, engine labor and all of the parts. Engine Estimated total price is about $8,000 With more needed things to order like the MSD ignition, pulley kit and belts, headers, carburator etc, it will easily reach $11,000. Carburator in the pictures bellow was just for looks, ill be ordering a new one along with the rest of the things after car is back home.

The car was sent over to the body shop for some body work and blocking, Some pictures were taken before it was dropped off at the shop a week ago, however, the camera was lost on the east coast during my trip there for a week. Upper and lower scoop holes were cut out, scoops and body where adhesive will bond was sanded with 80 grid and cleaned up. Adhesive was applied and panels were put on in place. After about 30-40 minutes, the tape was pulled off. Lower scoop extension edges were molded on the door and that would continue the flow from the scoop to the door without anything sticking out or not lining up.

Inside the panels were sanded down with 80 grid, and body where the adhesive would stick was sanded down with 80 grid, after all was cleaned up, side skirts were install first, followed by rear quarter flares, followed by front fender flares. upper and lower scoops, and spoiler will be finished tomorrow if all goes well.

All body panels were installed back on the car, so they wont be all over the place. Rear spoiler end caps were molded and then sanded down with 80 grid and body panel adhesive was used to bond them to the rear quarters, addition to the adhesive, bolts and nuts were used from the inside.

Upper and lower scoops, along with the rear spoiler were dried and were ok to be removed safely. Spoiler quarter extensions have some fitment issues, but once those are done and ready, then the whole Eleanor kit will be ready be secured to the body.

Upper and lower scoops were body filled around edges to make a bigger base and were set to dry. Rear spoiler was also filled with body filler around the edges and was set to dry for a bigger base for adhesive to grab.

After the body filler set, it was safe to remove the panels to fully air dry on the inside where it had contact to the body against the tape. Top and rear spoiler plus extension caps, and bottom and upper scoops will get molded also before all of the panels will be permanently bonded to the body with adhesive.

Before the panels would be molded to the body with adhesive, a mold inside each panel has to be made with body filler to create a wider base for the adhesive to grab stronger and to avoid any future cracks between the body and the panels. Body filler was put on the skirts, front fender flares, quarter panel flares and nose piece (which would not be molded, just making a bigger base between fender and nose), top and bottom skirts, and spoiler will have a mold a bit later on.

took a few days to install the door glass and vent windows. Vent windows were ordered new from mustangs plus, they dont fit as well as stock vent windows, but its always hard to make any aftermarket things fit well. vent windows alone were $600 a pair, a bit much, but beats getting the stock ones re-chromed and getting them completely rebuilt and restored. Door panels and door mirrors were also installed, but for now just temporary, just test fitting, but will be removed prior to painting.

steering column had to be modified and a new end shaft with a new bearing had to be installed at the end of the column. Instrument bazel was installed, miles are reset to 00,0001. Old door mirror holes were welded, grinded down, and body filled to even out. Eleanor mirrors will require new holes in different locations, so once thats dry and ready, they will be temporary installed. Fire extinguisher was set up exactly like in the movie, dash panels with brushed aluminum also installed, GT500 badge was installed in the exact Eleanor movie location as well. Glove box installed. FatMat was installed inside the doors as well.

fenders were trimmed more for the nose to fit better before the bracket was welded in place. the edges were grinded down, cleaned and primered.

the doors and fenders had to be aligned and aligned again and again to fit them the best they could fit. After fender flares were installed, the fenders had to be again realigned and things refitted. Currently everything is secure as it should be. Nose is the last piece that has to be adjusted a bit, fender brackets welded on and then nose can perfectly mounted.

Once all things are adjusted and fitted correctly, the molding will begin from the tail to the nose.

All of the rear panels have been installed, including the fold down seats and the trap door, finishing up the front interior dash panels with brushed aluminum inserts. will be followed by front seats, fire extinguisher and the NOS switch.

All of the interior panels have been reconditioned. They were painted to match the original shade and color. Also new grill inserts were installed to replace to original pitted vent grill inserts. Once it tries good overnight, the back interior will be fully finished.

Fenders were cut and adjusted to fir the nose piece, fender flares were also test fitted, and hood was test fitted. This is by far one of the best kits from Mustangs To Fear to work with, it requires the most minimal amount of work and fits the best of any other kit available today. This means, minimal amount of body filler will be used to perfect everything. Now that everything fits great. Doors were aligned, but need a bit more aligning. Once thats taken care of, the fenders will be fine tuned and nose bolted on.

Interior back panel lights were wired and installed, big panels were install, fold down panels and seats were installed and doors were installed but not yet aligned. Thin sticks were taped in place to create even door gaps everywhere. Once the door glass is installed, only then the doors can be aligned and permanently installed.

Subframes took a while to install, slight modifications has to be made, then grinded to where it was going to be welded, then after welding was done, the seams were seam sealed and primered and coated with some black coating. These were the best subframe connectors i could fit to work with the traction bars and for exhaust to clean them just perfectly and run them into the side exhaust skirts without any hitting issues.

Drain tubes were install for the lower scoops, and inside and around was coated black, drain will help when either driving through rain or after washing the car. Most of the time these scoops are not made to be functional, neither were they functional in the movie, mostly for looks. On this vehicle they will be functional on top, with vents being painted black so they will not be seen inside the scoop, and bottom scoops will be functional for brake cooling and will drain any water that will sit in the corners.

Under the dash wiring has been organazied, engine bay wiring has been run through, to the tail wiring has been put in, remote trunk latch has been installed. The project is now starting to come together. TCP engine brace bars were installed temporary, once engine is in then the brace bars will be tightened and adjusted. All of the door jams, roof rails, window rails, around the cowl, trunk jams, under the trunk, tail panel and around the doors were painted 4 coats with the correct Eleanor color code Dupont paint and Dupont clear. After all was dried, everything was then coated 3 coats with clear. With this major part of the project finished, everything can now be put together, the doors, the fender, the trunk, windows, hood etc. With all the hard spots painted and assembled, it would be much easier to paint the whole car. With this Eleanor Dupont Pepper gray metalic paint, its not good to paint all the panels off the car, the car has to be assembled and painted all at once because the way the metalic lays down. All of the panels have to be painted exactly the same angle as they would be on the car, and that is very hard to do with all parts taken off.

Paint being used for this project is Dupont 44490 Pepper Gray metalic. Dupont 44435 Black Metalic. Dupont 2400S Clearcoat. 4 coats for base and 3 coats for clear

TCP suspension was completed, new spindles picked up and were powder coated, after spindles installed the 13" 4 piston front brakes installed and wheel tested for fitment anc clearance.

TCP front coil over suspension arrived today, everything was temporary installed and fitted to make sure all of the things are present and everything fits well. once the spindles and TCP engine bay brace kit arrives it will all be finished up and front disc brakes will be installed.

Tail panel holes have been welded shut, then seam sealed from inside and outside. Gas tank hole also sealed. Once seam seal dried outside was primered and inside was coated.

FatMat was installed all in the interior, under dash, under the headliner, under back seats area, inside quarter panels. more FatMat had to be odered, then it will be put inside the doors, and and will be use in all of the trunk compartment area.

Rear end shaft were installed and secured, rear disc brake kit was installed.

New 9" Rear end was media blasted and then powder coated, it was all cleaned up and got installed in the car. The leaf springs were installed first, then housing was secured, followed by traction bars, rear sway bar, and the housing pumpkin was put in last, followed by the shafts. New Posi was installed, new 3.55 gears and new bearings and new shafts and all.

Traction bars will be welded to the frame after the subframe connectors arrive, sway bar will be secured to the frame after a few minor modifications made.

engine bay was finished, belly coated one more coat, interior got another coat and trunk area. FatMat will be installed in the next few days.

Lizard Skin www.lizardskin.com was used for coating the interior, belly, trunk compartment and outside engine bay approns under the fenders. Once all is dry, engine compartment will be coated with DupliColor with a pressurized air gun canister, just as the belly was. FatMat will be installed all through out the interior and trunk in a few days.

All of the tight corners that are hard to reach, with a spray gun, were sprayed with a spray can undercoating. Once it dries, it will be much easier to coat everything and not worry to much about very tight areas.

All interior, belly and engine bay was cleaned up, everything wiped with acetone and degreased and masked off to be ready for coating.

4 point roll bar was finished, welded to the wheel wells with a reinforcement bracket. Then it was cleaned up and re coated again. Rear brake cooling was set up and in the best area to achieve the best cooling for the rear brakes.

Interior, engine bay, belly, trunk compartment, all was sanded down with an 80 grid. It will be all cleaned up, pressured washed, degreased and ready for painting/coating.

Around the cowl it was primered again over the seam sealer. Roll bar has been primered and then coated, it was then welded to the floor and bolted on the top 2 holes. The fit of this roll bar is very good and tight. Headliner had to be installed prior to installing the roll bar, due to bolts going through the holes in the headliner. Under the dash, wiper motor was installed and wires adjusted a bit, finally adjustments will be made when the wires will be run to the tail and to the engine compartment.

FatMat was installed on the roof. Then headliner was installed. Cowl was primered one coat around all the seams, then seam sealed from the outside and also all under the dash from the inside. After the seam sealer will dry, it will be primered again.

All of the cowl welds have been grinded, seam sealer arrived today, will be used on Day 18. Metal dash panel was coated with bedliner coating. Roof was sanded down and cleaned up. POR15 paint was used under the roof and it will dry by Day18 and FatMat sound deadner will be put on under the roof.

After about 200+ spot welds, the lower and upper panels including the fender appron extension brackets are all welded in and done with. They will all be grinded down, seam sealed from outside and inside, and primered.
